Finally some good luck!

On our first night in the Fairmont Winnipeg we were woken up at 1:30 am to a screaming, loudmouthed, annoying kid. This carried on for quite some time and the parents did nothing. Turns out their room was attached to ours. The next morning (we were up early) we asked if we could move to a different room because that horrible monster of a kid kept us up all night and we were there to relax. The Gold lounge staff went above our expectations and upgraded us to the crown suite. This is the second best room in the hotel. Far away from the loud kid and even on a different floor. They told us that it was just recently renovated and we were the first to stay in it. After moving into the room Jeremy and I went to the museum and planetarium (which they also gave us free tickets for!) and when we came back to our new room we noticed the roof was leaking all over the curtains and new rug. We told them about it and they said that we may have to move out of the crown suite and into a different room.....the royal suite! this is the BEST room in the hotel, the one where celebrities and royalty stay!! and it was also newly renovated and we were the first to stay there. is was 1260 sq ft which is bigger than our house. It included 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, fire place, living room, bed room with a king sized bed and a grand piano! Our windows took up half the length of the hotel and we even watched the Victoria day fireworks from our room. SUCH a good weekend, we went to the zoo, museum, planetarium, antiquing, great german buffet, the forks market, lots of outdoor entertainment and good food. Since we had such a good time this weekend, and because the specific hotel staff we dealt with on the Gold flor were so good to us we are going again in july to take a train ride to a small town market with pies and crafts, and we are also planning on taking a private behind the scenes tour of the zoo where we may get to hold animals!!

  1. I just found your blog from the comment you left on mine! Thanks for the kind words about knitting socks and I'm glad that I had a part in persuading you to try them.

That is some hotel room!! I've never seen anything like it.

Looking through your posts I'm amazed at what an accomplished spinner you've become in such a short time. Also glad to hear that Jenny is settling in.
